Starward Legacy on Telegram: Your First Flight Guide
Get started with Starward Legacy, a Telegram space shooter with voxel battles, ship upgrades and a five-chapter campaign. Learn the opening controls and progression.

Starward Legacy brings a vertical space shooter to Telegram: weave through enemy fire, take on bosses and build a stronger ship between battles. Its voxel graphics give the ships and explosions a chunky, retro look, while a star map adds route planning to the action.
Open Starward Legacy on Telegram to get started. This guide covers the opening screen, weapon controls and the campaign features to look out for.
What is Starward Legacy?
Starward Legacy is a shmup, short for shoot 'em up. You pilot a ship through a vertically scrolling battlefield, dodging projectiles while fighting waves of enemies.
The game combines those encounters with longer-term progression. The campaign spans five chapters, with a star map connecting sectors, supply bases and battles. Ship upgrades and individual weapon upgrades let you develop a loadout over multiple sessions.
That makes it a natural pick for players who enjoy arcade action but also want decisions to make between fights.
How to start playing in Telegram
- Open the Starward Legacy link above.
- Choose Open App and confirm the launch in Telegram if prompted.
- On the game's title screen, press Start.
- Follow the opening training sequence before worrying about later upgrades.
The title screen also offers three graphics options: As Intended, Auto and Light. If performance is uneven on your device, try Light and compare how the game feels.
We checked the game's browser-hosted opening and training interface on October 26, 2026. The embedded Telegram Web view stayed blank in our session, so this is a guide to the verified opening and the project's published campaign features, rather than a full campaign review.
Your first flight: Vanguard, Cannon and Spread
The training screen introduces Vanguard in Crimson Nebula, Chapter 1. The opening weapon buttons include Cannon and Spread, with a level shown beside each.
The weapon panel displays DPS, Damage, Rate and Mastery. These give you a way to compare your setup instead of judging a weapon only by its visual effect.
For a first session, focus on three things:
- Read the mission tip. Our opening objective was to destroy a relay blocking the route to the gate. The tip explains what needs to happen next.
- Learn the weapon selector. Cannon and Spread are separate buttons. The Lock control includes the explanation: “Weapon lock: pickups keep your gun.”
- Locate your special controls. The desktop interface labels Time warp with Shift and Bomb with Space. Follow the controls shown on your own device.
The pause menu offers Resume, Settings and To Menu. Use it to take a break while learning the interface.
These images come from the project's TG.app listing and show different stages of the game. Their scores, equipment levels and ship setups are not starting values.
Ships and weapon upgrades
Starward Legacy's campaign includes six ships, plus the story ship AEGIS, assembled from five parts across the chapters.
You can upgrade your hull and weapons independently. That creates two different priorities: improving the ship itself and developing the guns you want to use.
The published arsenal includes cannon, spread, laser, missiles, railgun and pulse. Start by learning the opening weapons, then compare new options as they become available. A clear understanding of a familiar weapon is more useful than switching blindly between every pickup.
The star map and five-chapter campaign
Between battles, the star map introduces sector travel, fuel management and supply bases. Your route becomes part of the run, alongside the decisions you make in combat.
Each difficulty has its own campaign. Later chapters add hazards including meteors, homing missiles, magma surges and solar wind.
For a beginner, the practical priority is to understand the route and available supplies before rushing into the next encounter. Leave room to learn what each sector offers as the campaign opens up.
Daily Challenge and seasonal progression
The project's feature list also includes a Daily Challenge with escalating difficulty and leaderboards, plus a seasonal Battle Pass.
These are additional progression features to explore after learning the main controls. Check their current in-game descriptions for availability, conditions and any costs. We did not verify the current season's rewards or complete a Daily Challenge.
Ready for your first flight?
Begin with training, learn the weapon panel and follow the mission tip. Then explore how ship upgrades and the star map connect individual battles into a longer campaign.
